Delete your account
Last updated: September 2026
TapCook is operated by testmaxx LLC. You can delete your account and the data attached to it at any time, from inside the app or by emailing us. You do not need an account to use TapCook, and you do not need one to delete your data either.
Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription. Subscriptions are held by Apple or Google, not by us. Cancel in the App Store or Google Play before you delete, or it will keep renewing with no app attached to it.
From inside the Android app
- Open TapCook and go to the You tab.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete my account.
- Confirm twice. The second screen tells you exactly what is about to go.
It happens immediately. The app returns to its first-launch state, as if you had just installed it.
On iPhone, or if you've already removed the app
Email support@tapcook.co from the address you signed in with, with the subject Delete my account. If you never signed in there is no address for us to match you against — say so in the email and we will tell you what we need. We answer within 30 days, usually the same week.
What gets deleted
- Your account — the sign-in itself, and the anonymous user the app creates on first launch if you never signed in.
- Your household — the shared plan, and the code that let someone join it. If someone else is still in your household, they keep the plan and you are simply removed from it; their copy is not yours to delete.
- Your plans, grocery lists, kitchen and saved recipes — on the phone and on our servers.
- Your recipe ratings — the thumbs you gave, and their contribution to the public counts, which drop back to where they would have been.
- Your analytics events — the record of which screens you opened and when.
- Your creator-code attribution, if you entered one.
What doesn't, and why
- Feedback you sent us. The feedback box stores a message, a category and an app version — no name, no account, no device identifier. It cannot be traced back to you, which also means it cannot be picked out and removed. If you typed something identifying into the box itself, email us and we will delete that message by hand.
- Purchase records. Google Play and Apple hold those, not us, and both are required to keep them for tax and accounting purposes. Cancelling and deleting in TapCook does not reach them.
Nothing is kept on a delay or held in a recycle bin: the rows are deleted when you confirm, not queued for a nightly job. Ordinary encrypted database backups roll off on their own within 30 days.
