Privacy Policy

TapCook ("we," "us") is operated by testmaxx LLC. TapCook plans a week of dinners and builds a grocery list priced for the store you shop at. This policy explains what the app handles and what it doesn't.

Your plan, saved and synced

TapCook keeps your plan on your phone and saves a copy to our backend (Supabase). When you first open the app it creates an anonymous user for you — no name, no email — and your plan is saved under it. The copy includes:

• Your plan and grocery list — the dinners for each week, the items on your list, which ones you've ticked off, items you added yourself, and nights you marked as not cooking.
• Your kitchen — the staples you've told us you already own.
• Your setup answers — household size, which nights you cook, budget, diet, allergies and foods you avoid, appliances, the dinners you like or skip, and your answers to the setup questions.
• Your ZIP code and the store you picked, including its name and city.

We keep this copy so your plan can be restored and kept in step across devices, and so that the people you share a household with see the same week. If you share your household code, everyone who joins sees and can change the whole plan. If you sign in, your plan is saved under your account instead of the anonymous user. We don't use your plan for advertising, and we don't sell it or share it with advertisers.

What else leaves your device

Your ZIP code, to find stores near you

When you enter a ZIP code, the app asks Apple's location services to turn it into a location and to search for nearby grocery stores. That request goes to Apple and is handled under Apple's privacy policy. The app does not ask for or use your device's GPS location — only the ZIP you type. The ZIP and the store you choose are saved with your plan, as described above.

Anonymous product analytics

To see which parts of the app people use and where they get stuck, TapCook records usage events — for example, which setup step you reached, or that a week was built. Each event carries a randomly generated install identifier and a per-session identifier, along with your device model, your language and region setting, and the app version. They are stored on our backend (Supabase), are not tied to your name, and are never used for advertising or shared with advertisers. The install identifier resets if you delete and reinstall the app.

Recipe ratings

If you give a dinner a thumbs up or down, we store that vote with your install identifier, so each dinner's totals stay accurate and you can change your vote later.

Creator and referral codes

If you enter a code from a creator, we record the code with your install identifier, and later whether you started a free trial or subscribed, so the creator can be paid for referring you. We don't share your identity with the creator.

Feedback you choose to send

If you use the in-app feedback form, we receive the message and category you submit along with the app version, so we can act on it. Stored on Supabase.

Optional account

TapCook works fully without an account. If you choose to sign in, our authentication provider (Supabase) receives an account identifier and, depending on the method, your email address. With Sign in with Apple you can hide your email. We use this only to secure and restore access — not for marketing.

Subscriptions

If you subscribe, our subscription provider (RevenueCat) receives a randomly generated app user ID and your purchase and entitlement information, so premium features unlock and purchases can be restored. Apple handles all payment. We never see your card number.

Advertising measurement

We run ads (for example on TikTok) to reach new people, and we measure which ads actually lead to installs so we don't waste money. We use the TikTok Business SDK together with Apple's SKAdNetwork. If you allow tracking through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt, this may include your device's advertising identifier (IDFA). If you decline — which is the default — measurement falls back to SKAdNetwork, which does not identify you. This is limited to measuring our own advertising. We do not show third-party ads inside TapCook.

Diagnostics

The app may report anonymous crash and performance diagnostics through Apple's standard tools. This is not linked to your identity.

Notifications

TapCook's reminders — a nudge at the time you chose, and a heads-up before a free trial ends — are scheduled locally on your device. There is no push server and no push token, so we do not learn whether or when you received one. You can turn them off in iOS Settings.

What we do not do

• We do not sell or rent your personal information.
• We do not show third-party ads inside the app, and we do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers. The only ad-related activity is measuring our own ads.
• We do not use your GPS location or track your movements.
• We do not send your plan, grocery list, kitchen or answers to any AI service. Meal planning and pricing run on your device.
• We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Service providers

TapCook relies on the following, each governed by its own privacy policy:

• Apple — ZIP-to-location lookup and nearby-store search; App Store payments; SKAdNetwork ad measurement; crash diagnostics.
• Supabase — saving and syncing your plan, household sharing, optional accounts, anonymous product analytics, recipe ratings, creator-code attribution and in-app feedback.
• RevenueCat — subscription and entitlement management.
• TikTok — measuring the performance of our own ads.

Data retention

Deleting the app removes what is on your phone, but not the saved copy of your plan on our servers. That copy, analytics events, ratings, account records and subscription records are kept by us or our providers as long as needed to run and improve the service, or until you ask us to delete them — see deleting your data.

Your choices

• Your plan: edit it in the app at any time. To remove the saved copy on our servers, see deleting your data.
• Tracking: decline the App Tracking Transparency prompt, or change it in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
• Notifications: iOS Settings → Notifications → TapCook.
• Subscription: manage or cancel in your Apple Account settings.
• Deleting your data: see deleting your data for how, and for what goes and what doesn't.

Changes

We may update this policy as TapCook changes. Material changes will appear here with a new "last updated" date.
